Hello, fam! I

just wanted to name a couple of fun facts about me for you to get to know me a little bit more. Plus, it’s my birthday, so I thought it would be a fun way to celebrate.

So, let’s get to it.

1. My full name is Tasha Monique Battle.

2. I am an introvert/extrovert.

3. My favorite color used to be purple, and now it’s black.

4. My mom is originally from Harare, Zimbabwe, but I was born in Omaha, Nebraska. So, due to my upbringing and my mom’s nationality, I am more African than anyone would suspect, but I am in love with American culture. So I would consider myself more Americanized than anything else, but I do plan on learning more about my culture.

5. My birthday is May 13, 1996, so I am a Taurus. Anyone else a Taurus?

6. I graduated from the University of North Texas with a B.B.A in Accounting.

7. I did go to Texas Southern University for one semester, which is why I am so obsessed with Houston and an avid supporter of HBCUs.

8. I moved about 4-5 times in Elementary school. It did suck when it came to making friends and such. I think that’s why I hold my friendships so tight; it’s hard to meet genuine people in this world.

9. I did go to acting school during my elementary and middle school years but decided to quit in high school. Mostly because I hated rejection and not getting a callback sucked, plus around a group of people, I used to tense up and act shy. But in my bedroom, I swore I was the best dang actress ever. Stage fright sucks y’all. It wouldn’t let me be great.

10. Leaving acting school was my biggest regret. I feel like I was a couple of rejections from making it or getting a role. If I didn’t quit, who knows where I would be. So, for anyone reading this, don’t EVER quit on yourself.

11. I have always been an avid reader and writer. I’ve read ALL of the Harry Potter and Twilight books. I was low-key obsessed with supernatural fiction books in my teen years. I even got into the vampire diaries series but didn’t finish the series sadly :(

12. I prefer books over movies, but due to adulting and onset laziness. I watch more movies than I read books. I did start reading books during quarantine, currently finishing Relationship Goals by Michael Todd.

13. I started writing a book when I was younger, wrote about 5-10 pages, but quit. I’m thinking about starting back up, but now I don’t know what to write. Any ideas? Also, I have a bad habit of quitting things, can you tell?

14. I am in love with everything black, black movies, black books, black empowerment. I support everyone, but I support everything black owned a little bit more

15. I am also a big advocator for women, all women. I love the hashtag #girlboss and have been obsessed with the hashtag since I read the Sophia Amoruso book. I feel like women are powerful and are the reason the world is still running.

16. I met my fiancé at Texas Southern University at 19. I met him at a friend's apartment during a little kickback, and we have been inseparable ever since.

17. I am in love with love. I love romantic comedies, romantic books, and listening to any podcasts that discuss how to have a successful relationship/marriage.

18. I'm a Christian.

19. I am obsessed with these channels on Youtube (AlishaWilliams, AshleyDevonna, KyraKnox, RavenElyse). I watch their videos regularly, and they continue to inspire me to keep reaching for the stars. I've met two out of the four on random occasions.

20. I was involved with two organizations in college, HerCampus and National Associations of Black Accountants.

21. I'm an Auditor. I found my job through a non-traditional route ( NABA conference), and I am pleased to be apart of the company that I currently work at. So, for any post-grad students or seniors in college, definitely attend conferences, job fairs, etc. You never know where your job opportunity will come from.

22. I decided to start blogging because I wanted to document my journey through college to adulthood, plus I love writing. It relaxes me. I also wanted a hobby that would bring me enjoyment and give me something to do when I got bored.

23. I hope to one day star in a superhero action film such as Avengers, X-men, or Transformers. I’m a superhero movie nerd. I have watched all the major superhero movie series, from Justice League to Marvel to Transformers to Fantastic Fours to Star Wars. I might try out Star Trek, but is that considered a superhero movie? Let me know.

24. It took me a long time to find my first accounting related position ( three years). I got an internship for marketing instead of accounting, but it helped me stand out when I applied for my next job.So, don’t give up. Keep applying, keep reaching out, and do your best. Your time is coming!
