15 Resources To Support Black Lives Matter and POC in 2020
Racism.
It might not seem like a BIG issue to some people, but to people of color, specially people of black ancestry, then you know far to well, how BIG of an issue Racism is.
Racism is defined as prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.
Racism has been around since the slave ships were filled in the coast of Africa, and probably long before then, to keep people of color in a place of inferiority and powerless to stand up for the rights they rightly deserve.
Due to the nation outrage over the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and countless others. We’ve been able to shine light on the racism that goes on in the world today. We have been able to see people get called out for their racist action and organizations for their racist policies. We have been able to see changes being made from new policies being enacted to the culprits being arrests. While, this is good news, it doesn’t mean that we need to STOP talking about the injustices we face, or that we shouldn’t continue to protest.
It means that we need to FIGHT harder to see more changes being made. We can start making changes in our everyday lives by supporting and uplifting our black communities, by investing in black businesses, and by bringing attention to injustices.
So, to STOP racism is to be AWARE of it when it happens and to CALL it out.
And that’s why I love the Black Lives Matter Organization so much because their not scared to call attention to the things that are happening to people who look like me. They're not afraid to march out in protests despite the tear gas and rubber bullets that might come their way. They're willing to speak truth to something that has been pushed underneath the rug for so long.
So to help the progress of the BLM mission, I wanted to provide a couple of resources that you can use to support the movement and the back communities in your area.
