How to Plan a Low- Cost Baby Sprinkle + Baby Sprinkle Recap

Baby Showers, Baby Sprinkles, Baby Celebrations…

While fun, there are so much work to put together.

This past weekend, I hosted my first ever baby sprinkle (a smaller and intimate baby shower) for our friends and family with the help of my aunts, cousin, and sister. And to tell you the truth, it was stressful. I literally started planning this event at the end of June and had only a couple of weeks to put it together.

Surprisely, it turned out well. People had fun, and even commented and said it was the best baby sprinkle ever, which was nice to hear.

So, if you’re also planning a baby sprinkle or shower on your own, here are some tips that helped me plan my own.

  • Delegate tasks - Anyone who offered to helped me, I made them apart of the process. I knew I could not do it on my own. From working full time to being a mom of a toddler and 6-7 months pregnant. This girl needed a squad that could execute my dream baby sprinkle. I reached out to about four people, three who offered, and one who was known to throw bomb events, since she helped put together Malik and I’s wedding. I had one person who looked at venues, one person who looked at dessert places, another person who was in charge of the invites, and lastly a person who was in charge of decor. I would be the one to review the venues, dessert places and book the event/place the dessert order. I would also help with the theme of the event and send the designated person the guest list. But everything else, was handled by them, which was nice and took a lot off my plate. So, want to plan a bomb event? Get a squad to help out.

  • Planning is key - As mentioned before, I was the one who made the final decisions. What helped me to do that was carving out time every week to focus on a specific baby sprinkle task. Utilizing my planner each week helped me to ensure that I set aside time each week to do something related to the baby sprinkle. I remember writing things down like “reach out to so and so to start the planning process” and “review venues list”, etc. I also made sure to give people deadlines on when I wanted things done to ensure we had enough time to do everything.

  • Budgeting - How much are you willing to spend on the baby sprinkle? To be transparent, the baby sprinkle in total cost Malik and I about $1,030. My mom helped out with decor costs, which was heavily appreciated. Our planned budget was $1500. Having a budget helped us narrow down venues and dessert places, our venue cost a total of $852.41 for a brunch buffet for 35 people with no time constraints on when we needed to be out. Dessert cost around $180.00. Knowing we wanted to stay under our budget helped us figure out what kind of sprinkle we wanted to host. After attending one of our dear friend’s baby shower that was hosted at a restaurant, we loved it so much and decided to do the same thing. Cuts down on food costs, decor, etc., since majority of the things you need are provided by the restaurant.

  • Baby Shower Games, Activities, etc. - If you want to keep conversation flowing, i would suggest planning an activity for people to do. I decided on baby shower card games and discussion topics. It’s better to have these things planned ahead of time, as you will have to purchase the items to bring with you.

  • Set Up Crew - I wouldn’t say I had an official set up crew but the three people who helped me set up the event helped set up decor, dessert table, etc. In addition, any guest who showed up earlier also offered to help, which was nice. There was not much to set up due to it being hosted at a restaurant, we just had to set up table placements, balloon arches, dessert table, etc. But if you’re event is bigger, having someone to help set up is mandatory. The last thing you want to do on your baby sprinkle is to stress about how everything is going to be put up.

These tips helped me to put together my first ever baby sprinkle and it was a blast. I hope these tips help you to do the same.

Now that we discussed all the planning details, let’s get into the baby sprinkle recap.

Baby sprinkle went off without a hitch. The food was amazing, the desserts were delicious, and mimosas were had by guests who were able to drink. Overall, it was a blast. ONLY thing I would’ve done differently is pick out a better baby sprinkle outfit.

Also, since this event was intimate and small, we didn’t play that many baby shower games, I wanted to talk and communicate, so i wrote up discussion questions to be asked. It was nice hearing people’s opinions and viewpoints about parenting.

For my first event, I did that! And boy, am I happy I did.

Celebrating baby boy with my loved ones was so nice. I felt so loved. I can’t wait to bring baby boy home to this village we have created.

Let me know in the comments what are some good tips on how to plan a bomb event.
