5 Things I'm Doing to Prepare for Baby's Arrival

Two more weeks until baby boy will be here.

Isn’t that crazy? Time has flown by. We are officially in August, baby boy’s birth month. It’s so weird to look back at the moment that I found out I was expecting another baby to being close to his arrival.

I’m excited but so nervous. My whole world is about to change once again. I don’t know what to expect on life with two kids, except that my life is about to be a little bit more chaotic.

So, in order to prepare for baby boy’s arrival, I have designated specific tasks to complete before his arrival. I wanted to share them with you in hopes that it might help a fellow mama on her own nesting journey.

Let’s begin,

  • Organize Closet/Dresser/Sort Clothes - This process took me about three hours in total, but was so worth it. I bought some hanger labels, shoe organizer, and more hangers to complete this task from Amazon. I splt up the dresser to accomodate both boys and labeled the clothes by size, so all the clothes fit on one side of the closet, and seperated the pants/shorts/sweats based on Micah’s size and baby boy’s size for easy picking. I still have to wash all the new clothes he received to ensure their ready and clean for his little body to be clothed in, which will be washed on the next laundry day. I filmed this whole process and the video will be live on Friday, August 3rd for your viewing pleasure.

  • Decorate Nursery - The boys will be sharing a room, which takes the pressure off a little since we didn’t have to decorate a whole new room. We are just adjusting Micah’s room to accommodate baby boy and to ensure each child has their own space. This process will begin next week and will be filmed. The video for this will be live on Friday, August 11th for your viewing pleasure.

  • Pack Hospital Bag - This task is usually saved for the last week before the baby arrives, but I think I will start on it next week to ensure the last week I’m spending it relaxing and resting up before baby boy comes. The hospital provides a lot of items for baby boy, so I’ll just be packing essentials (i.e. pajamas, shower products, etc.) for myself, and about three outfits for him to wear when guests visit and when we head home. This will be filmed along with the bottles and bibs as part of nesting video number 3. This video will be live on Friday, August 18th.

  • Buy Bottles, Bibs, etc - We received some gift cards for our sprinkle, as well as lots of wipes and diapers. We are using these gift cards to purchase any additional items, such as baby bottles, bibs, clothes, diapers, medicine, etc. The haul of items we bought will be included in the Pack Hospital Bag nesting video, which will be available August 11, 2023.

  • Postpartum Kit - This will be my final task to complete, as this task is not necessarily pertaining to baby but to my own recovery. I did this with the first baby and had a whole section in the bathroom for my postpartum products, I’ll be doing the same thing again, but might order me a cart this go-around and make it more personal. I’ll probably complete this on the last week before baby arrives. This would be another way for me to relax and take care of myself before baby arrives. This will be the last nesting video and will be live on Friday, August 25th.

So, that’s about it. Hopefully I still have the energy to knock these things out in the next two weeks, but something about baby ‘s arrival always kicks me in high gear. I am so happy to be documenting this process more in-depth this time around., as last time, I just documented the nursery and the labor.
