C-Section Recovery Postpartum + Hospital Bag Essentials | Nest with Me
I can’t believe these past 8-9 months have gone by so fast.
With only less than a week left to baby boy is here. It’s down to crunch time.. In preparation of his arrival, this week we are finishing up decorating the nursery, ordering all the hospital and postpartum essentials and are starting to pack our hospital bags.
I wanted to share all the things I will be getting to help any other pregnant mommas out there on what you might want to include in your hospital bag or postpartum collection.
So, let’s get into it.
What’s in my Hospital Bag
For Momma
Grip socks - Helpful with circulation and keeping your toes warm and stable on those hospital floors
Hygiene kit - Packed tooth brush, mouthwash, floss picks, body wash, lotion, perfume, and deodorant to keep me feeling fresh and clean throughout my hospital stay. Buying a clear container to put everything in, like the ones linked here, will keep you organized and prepared for your first post-birth shower.
Shower shoes - Don’t want to step on the hospital shower floors. Get some cute and comfy ones.
Comfy Shoes - Grabbing a cute pair of slides to walk around in is always advised.
Pjs/Loungewear - I’m not going to lie to you, the first hospital stay I did with my first baby, I just stayed in the hospital gown for comfort. I did pack Pjs and loungewear but never wore them, but there’s nothing wrong with bringing them just in case.
Going home outfit - I usually pack a cute sweatpants/lounge wear outfit because the last thing you want to feel after a c-section is uncomfortable. So buy an outfit from your favorite store that is comfy, breathable, and makes you feel cute.
Electronics - Invested in a 10ft cord to keep my phone charged to ensure I was able to capture everything and talk to friends and family. I also will be bringing my IPAD to watch tv shows/movies, while the hospital has cable. I preferred my shows with no commercials.
For Baby
Outfits - The only thing I’m bringing for baby is a couple of outfits and fuzzy socks. The hospital provides everything else (i.e. bibs, onesies, socks, bottles, formula, diapers, etc.). So to keep the hospital bag light I will be bringing just a couple of outfits and socks that we can change him into for pictures and for visits with family.
Now on to post-partum recovery.
DISCLAIMER: I’m having a scheduled C-Section and the items listed below are recommended for c-section recovery.
Diapers - I’m always going to be a huge supporter of using diapers post partum because they make the whole experience a little bit more comfy and less mess. My favorite brand is Always Discreet, but any other diaper brand will probably do.
Belly Band - I found a cheap one from Target that I used during my first post-partum experience that worked real well, so I’ll be using it again.
MiraLAX - a stool softener never hurt nobody. Definitely recommend because that first poop is ridiculous.. Helps the process. Trust me
Scar Sheets and Gel - Never used this the first time around as I had an emergency c-section, so didn’t prepare beforehand but this time around I will be testing these products out. There supposed to help with scar healing and appearance of scars.
Vitamins - I bought some vitamins from Target that aid in digestion and belly health.
Tylenol - Can’t go wrong with pain relief medicine. I usually prefer ibuprofen but Tylenol extra strength is a close second.
This time next week I’ll be a mom of two. Nervous is an understatement, but with all this prep work out of the way, I know it will be a little less stressful and more enjoyable, knowing I’ll just be focused on bonding with baby boy.
I hope this post was helpful for you on your own journey to motherhood.
Let me know in the comments any other products that were helpful for you.
